Team

Rajesh Gopal is the principal of Gopal Lawyers having practised for over 10 years in Brisbane in local, State and Federal jurisdictions.   He is a registered migration agent who is able to assist clients through migration applications, review decisions on migration matters in the Migration Review Tribunal and to assist where complex matters require judicial review in the Federal Circuit Court.  His broad range of expertise includes commercial disputes, tort matters, administrative law, conveyancing and litigation.  He has a strong working relationship with a number of barristers able to provide assistance in the most complex of cases.

Prenisha Rampersad is engaged as a law clerk with the firm and, for conveyancing matters will often be the regular point of contact to keep you updated on your matters.  In addition to her work in conveyances she assists with litigation matters and undertaking research for the provision of advice on a variety of aspects of law as they arise.

Areas of Practice

At Gopal Lawyers our practice covers a broad range of areas including:

  • All Migration Matters, including MRT reviews, Federal Circuit Court Judicial Reviews, and Appeals (in meritorious cases)
  • Conveyancing, both simple home conveyances, to large scale property settlements
  • Sale and purchase of businesses
  • Family Law matters including child support, financial agreements and, in those difficult times, divorce
  • Domestic Violence orders can present difficulties to more than just members of a couple and can include issues of financial hardship or abuse of elderly people as well as the more prevalent issues of physical violence.  If you have been the victim of domestic violence we can advise you of your options.  If you have been accused of committing domestic violence then we can advise you of your options, including contesting an application for an order.  Frequently domestic violence applications are taken out on behalf of an aggrieved by police so it can be important that you have representation to avoid the disadvantage of appearing without assistance against a, frequently, very experienced police prosecutor
  • Commercial law, including disputes arising from contract disagreements to lease disputes and appearing in arbitrations
  • Building and Construction disputes, including disputes between individual home owners and builders and larger commercial scale construction matters
  • Contested criminal matters, whether the matter is a relatively minor charge before a Magistrate or a more serious matter before the District or Supreme Court our firm, together with our network of experienced Barristers will be able to fully advise you of your prospects and represent you
  • Pleas of guilty to criminal matters, we are able to provide you with advice regarding your decision to plead guilty and ensure that you are aware of the potential consequences and pitfalls, and when it comes to the plea to help ensure that, in representing you, that all available and favourable information is placed before the court
  • Wills and Estates, if you don’t already have a will, contact us about a fixed fee quote for preparation of a standard will.  For more complex matters make an appointment outlining the particular issues that may arise.  In dealing with estates an executor may seek advice about how to deal with disputes in the administration of an estate and need legal advice, alternatively a beneficiary may seek guidance with respect to any disposition made, or not made, for them under a will

In addition to the above specific matters, over the course of many years our expertise has included a variety of other matters and we have developed strong networks of Barristers who can assist with your dispute.  If you are unsure whether we can assist, just ask.
